Combat is much more fun and feels like a more substantial part of the game this way and forces you to really get to grips with the games really well thought through systems, such as crafting.

2) Don’t play the game like Skyrim - Yes the game wants you to walk off the beaten trail but doesn’t particularly excel in this area or reward you handsomely for this behaviour. You earn almost all of your XP from completing quests, so prioritise finding and completing these. The Witcher contracts were my personal favourite. You’ll do lot’s of exploring this way anyway, I’d just recommend a more linear approach to it than if playing Skyrim or Fallout.

3) Don’t skip cut scenes and read everything. Dive into the lore. This game really excels with it’s storytelling and world building. All the depth from the books translate amazingly into the game.

4) Gwent is awesome and a nice change of pace.

5) The first 20 hours is actually quite difficult, feel free to play on lower difficulties if you don’t care about achievements.

6) Buy blood and wine if you start to like it. The area this DLC is set in (toussaint) is one of the only ‘cheery’ locations in the game and is a breath of fresh air and a welcome change of tone.

Good luck on the path!
","upvoteCount":5,"downvoteCount":0},{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Comment","datePublished":"2022-11-14","author":{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Person","name":"chuckratm"},"text":"
Let's just take 1 minute to think about the fact that IGN gave The Witcher 3 a 9/10 and they just gave Pentiment a perfect 10.
