Pacu are South American freshwater fish that are related to piranha. While piranha are omnivores that eat a variety of fish, snails, insects, and plant materials, pacu are largely herbivorous. A large part of the pacu diet is made up of nuts, fruits, and seeds that fall down from the trees in their native environment in the Amazon and Orinoco River basins.
