A stunning pair of Early Jurassic sea urchins for this #FossilFriday The natural beauty of fossils never ceases to amaze me. The tiny spines. The Aristotle’s lantern (jaw apparatus in the centre). The fine details. Exceptional. This is BY FAR one of the rarest fossils ever found along Yorkshire's Jurassic coast. Early Jurassic echinoids like this are extremely rare in the Whitby area. This one was found in Staithes and is today at the Whitby Museum. It is approximately 185 million years old. | D
