The main bronze door of the Duomo di Milano was designed by Ludovico Pogliaghi and inaugurated in 1906. It tells the story of the Virgin Mary through richly detailed relief panels arranged like a vertical “tree of life,” with joyful scenes on one side and sorrowful moments on the other.
