Penstemon cardinalis is native to the mountains of New Mexico and west Texas, where is grows on dry rocky slopes basking in full sun along junipers and pinyon pine. We planted it in our part sun crevice garden where it delights us with a brilliant flower show in late spring to early summer each year.
