On Sept. 9, 2025, democracy activists from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Afghanistan, North Korea, and beyond gathered at the George W. Bush Presidential Center to address a pressing question: “How do we as a community fight back against authoritarianism and make the case for democracy?” Over two days, the inaugural Asia Democracy Leaders Roundtable gave participants a platform to share their struggles for freedom and to raise awareness of the challenges they face.
