During my first year of teaching, I felt like I was always redirecting disruptive behavior. I would get so frustrated because it seemed like the more I tried to stop the behaviors from happening, the more often they would occur. Now I know, however, that whatever you focus more on, you create more of. Meaning the more I called out students for their disruptive behavior, the more often they would do it.
