Lawmakers at the Georgia State Capitol are facing renewed calls this legislative session to expand healthcare access and lower costs for residents across the state, particularly in rural communities.

Georgia is the latest state to consider eliminating its personal income tax, with Republican leaders in the Senate backing a proposal to phase it out by 2032.

State lawmakers will take a closer look at Georgia’s proposed flat tax during a 10 a.m. hearing at the State Capitol. The meeting comes as the final report on the proposal is now complete and ready to be presented when the legislature reconvenes on Monday 1/12/26.
